GEF investments in support of Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS)
"The GEF supports one of the three fundamental objectives of the CBD: to allow parties to determine the Access to genetic resources, and to ensure that the Benefits arising from their utilization, are Shared in a fair and equitable manner (ABS for short).
Global Multilateral Benefit-Sharing Mechanism (Article 10)
Article 10 of the Nagoya Protocol requires the Parties to consider the need for and modalities of a global multilateral benefit-sharing mechanism to address the fair and equitable sharing of benefits derived from the utilization of genetic resources and traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources that occur in transboundary situations or for which it is not possible to grant or obtain prior informed consent.

Access and Benefit Sharing Management Tool (ABS-MT)
With the support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, Stratos Inc., in cooperation with Geoff Burton and Jorge Cabrera, has updated the Access and Benefit Sharing Management Tool (ABS-MT) to address the new requirements of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (ABS) to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
